The Lesson

One of the most profound lessons of your life, will not be learned in a classroom.  You will not discover it between the covers of a book.  You will not witness it as a bystander.  This experience, that you are certain to have had by now, will catch you by surprise.  It will shock you and shake you up.  It may even take your breath away.

This unconventional, yet highly effective instruction will not be taught by a professor. It will not be presented as a tutorial or seminar. You will acquire this knowledge through good old fashion experience. You will fall down, sometimes on your hands and knees, and you will get back up.

As a child you may have fallen quite frequently, many times bruising parts of yourself.  As you grew older your physical falls occurred less often, but you stood up and brushed yourself off, each and every time.

Now that you are an adult, you may not fall in the traditional sense; but you have experienced set backs.  These non-physical falls can be pretty jarring, but the same premise applies...dust yourself off and try again. Just as you wouldn't dream of falling and remaining on the ground, nor should you allow adversity to discourage you from getting back up.

The next time that you fall, which you are destined to do, shake it off and keep pressing ahead.

I used to be pretty easily discouraged if someone told me that I'm not good enough and without support, I was always depressed but after moving away from my own country and my own comfort zone, it teaches me that if I don't push myself and motivate myself, no one will.

Good post, Stacey!
