Insecurity Blanket

Humans are creatures of habit.  You hold on to the things that you get used to, whether they are good for you or not.  You tell yourself that these things give you comfort and peace of mind.

These unhealthy attachments, come in the form of relationships that are bad for your self-esteem, jobs that do not provide value to your life, or addictions that are harmful to your mind, body, and soul.

You may find that you are as snug as bug, cloaked in the assumed safety of the toxic people and things that you insist on holding on to.  What you have told yourself is a security blanket, is actually a blanket of insecurity.

You have to let go.  Let go of all things that do not infuse your life with worth.  Walk away from relationships that do not put stock in your life's portfolio. Unwrap your insecurity blanket and come out from the shadow that you have been hiding in for far too long.

I think that this idea is the reason that people tend to find more meaningful relationships when they least are looking for one or want one- you aren't holding on to a toxic relationship for the "security"

You're right Meri! You can't find the stuff that's "good for you" if you're busy holding on to the not-so-good stuff!

I love reading comments, almost as much as I love reading books!
